Just Cause 3 Gold Edition (PS4)

Just Cause 3 marks a noticeable improvement over Just Cause 2 (which was itself a massive improvement over the very first Just Cause game). The game play area is HUGE, and the complete add-ons here represent great value for money. One of the things to marvel at in this game is that if you're stood looking at mountains way off in the distance, those mountains aren't just a nice background like so many action games - you can REACH those mountains.

You can play this game any way you want to. You can complete the missions systematically, or you can just run around causing chaos and capturing enemy bases, or you can do a mixture of both. Something that's very cool is that if you do capture a base outside of a mission, then end up being sent back to that base for a mission, the base remains cleared out. This is good to know as it would be a little bit weird finding a base suddenly rebuilt and fully staffed by the enemy again after fighting so hard to capture it.

You can do SO much in this game. The only other game that gives you this much versatility and freedom is GTA - and you can do even MORE in Just Cause 3 than you can in GTA. You can run around, drive around, take a speedboat, a ship, parachute, jetpack (after completing an early mission), and grapple hook your way around the island too if you wish.

You can kill enemies (and civilians) in any number of amusing ways.

Some might say the endless taking over bases is repetitive. Well, when repetition is THIS much fun, I really can't see that as an issue. If you like a totally bonkers game with tons of explosions, tons of guns, and tons of what some are trying to suck out of the games industry: FUN, you really should get this game!
