Sucker Punch - Triple Play (Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Copy) - £6.29
A film full of stunning action scenes and stunning actresses in school girl outfits is hardly going to get a low rating from any red blooded male but there is more to this film than that! Sucker Punch has to be one of the most visually stunning films I've seen to date. The story is well written, its dark and gritty and well acted. Emily Browning was superbly casted for the role of Baby Doll. Zack Snyder has unfairly been slated for the similarities to 300 in the style of filming etc; but seeing as 300 did well and was also visually stunning I don't see the problem there. This should definitely be classed as a lads film and I highly recommend it as who doesn't want to see a dark, sexy action film?
Bangkok Dangerous - £5.69
This is the same old, run of the mill assassin film, set in Bangkok. It's not great, but its not bad either. Its enjoyable and deff one for cage fans.
Battle: Los Angeles (2011) - £5.09
This is a film to see if you want something that will pound your senses, some full on battles that were amazing when I saw this in the cinema, I felt this film had more a sense of a war film than you get with some Sci-Fi invasion films. Aaron Eckhart puts in one of the best performances I have seen from him and yes I have seen the dark knight. Recommend this film.
24 (Twenty Four) - Seasons 1 To 4 (Box Set) - £34.59
Been lent the first 4 seasons so far by a colleague from work, I have heard for years on how great 24 is but have never myself got round to watch it and oh my god i had been missing out. The story lines have been amazing and so well acted, it written so well and always has you on the edge of your seat because it gets so tense! The stuff Jack and the people around him have been through is astounding and yet at the end of the day they always manage to succeed albeit with a large body count and a few of the famous quotes of 'Dammit' and 'Schematics'
Drive Angry - Double Play (Blu-Ray and DVD) - £17.89
Now this isn't going to go down as one of Cages classic films, story line is a bit dodgy and Nic doesn't seem as if he's put 100% into this, although saying that he still does a pretty good job. The basic gist of it is he's broken out of hell, In pursuit of a religious cult who killed his daughter and have his baby granddaughter, Who is a candidate for sacrifice to bring about the end of the world. Yea I know what you are thinking WTF but still creates an entertaining film with good car chases and action, definitely a bloke film. Will probably watch it again.
System Of A Down - Toxicity (Music CD) - £9.59
You must have heard Chop Suey, unless you've been living under a rock for the last few years! Don't expect another 13 tracks that are clones of that - this band has never made a song that you could confuse with any other track of theirs. There's not a disappointing track on there! I'd recommend ordering System Of A Down and Hypnotize along with Toxicity if you haven't already got them, because once you hear one, you'll want the rest!
System of a Down - Hypnotize (Music CD) - £12.09
This is not Systems best album, but it comes very close. This is my second favourite album behind Toxicity. I Think a lot of fans were expecting the heavier material from Systems early years but that's not the case with this and Mezmerize. The music and lyrics are different on the two latest albums oppose to earlier work as Daron has taken the helm. The album is much more tuneful than any of SOAD's work before.
Dollhouse - Season 1 - £11.79
I'm a big fan of Joss Whedon and love his shows. Now with Dollhouse the first half of the season seems like Joss was restricted a bit by Fox and he didn't have as much creative freedom as in his previous shows which is apparent. The show starts slowly but does build a rapport between the audience and the characters and you start to like and dislike certain characters. From episode 6 onwards Joss starts to come into his own and it starts to get more gripping, funny and dark with an intelligent and complex storyline that gets people thinking.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time - £3.99
Thought this was going to be amazing but had to turn it off (not even half way through) was boring and I think the only time I will watch this again is if I get alzheimer's and forget how bad it is.
Season Of The Witch (2010) - £6.99
I will admit now this review could of gone a whole different way if it wasn't for Nicholas Cage...he saves this film but only to 3 stars! I had so much hope that this film was going to be amazing, but was hugely disappointed. It's watchable yea but its going to be a while until I get round to seeing it again. The story is poor and the acting is poor with the exception of cage.
The Pacific - Complete HBO Series (Blu-Ray) - £18.69
After the massive success that was 'Band of Brothers' I was expecting big things from this and it delivered but was not as good as its predecessor. Having said that its still an amazing series and should be classed as a must see for all war film fanatics.
Band Of Brothers: Complete HBO Series (Commemorative 6-Disc Gift Set In Tin Box) (Blu-Ray) - £18.39
If you like war films such as Saving Private Ryan or you are a history nut or both then this is for you. Really shows what life was like for the people fighting in the war. The acting is so superb you can feel the anger, the pain and see just how scary and intimidating everyday must of been for them. They have done a good job in writing it in such a way that you become attached to the characters which makes it oh so good.
Machete (2010) - £5.69
I saw this not knowing what to expect, its a bit random but watch able. The acting is hit and miss but worth it for the over the top fighting scenes. Worth a watch but probably just the one watch.
The Vampire Diaries - Season 1 - £7.99
Not as full on as True Blood, but a hell of a lot better than shoddy Twilight. Probably aimed more at later teens than adults. Can't wait for season 2!
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy - The Extended Edition (Blu-ray) - £21.99
This is without a doubt the greatest trilogy ever made and will be hard to best. Great story , great acting, great camera work, great special effects, great fighting scenes, great great great great great great great.
Severance - £7.19
Probably my favourite Danny Dyer film, might not be the best story or acting in the world but its provides lots of entertainment and laughter so you can't complain!
Mad Men - Season 4 - £10.09
I love Mad Men and this is another great series. Its funny how not a lot can happen over the space of series yet somehow you are glued and its great. The acting is superb and its great to see Jon Hamm and January Jones popping up in films. The only downside is the huge amount of smoking and drinking throughout will make you feel unhealthy just from watching it!
Age of Heroes [DVD] (2011) - £7.95
This is actually a good film, we all know not to expect all time greats from Danny Dyer but he does a good job in this and lets face it any film that Sean Bean is in are pretty damn great. The acting is good throughout and there are some good gun fight scenes. Definitely worth a watch!
The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button (Blu-Ray) - £9.19
Watched this many times and 'it never gets old' pun intended
The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button (2008) - £6.99
Watched this many times and 'it never gets old' pun intended
Shoot Em Up - £3.69
One of my favourite films, not to be taken seriously. Over the top action with amazing one liners. Could watch this 1000 times and never get bored.
Shoot Em Up (Blu-Ray) - £8.49
One of my favourite films, not to be taken seriously. Over the top action with amazing one liners. Could watch this 1000 times and never get bored.
Fast & Furious 5 - £4.19
This one isn't so much about cars, they have put more effort into fight scenes and gun battles. It the most actioned packed one so far but its definitely missing the racing element which made the previous ones so good. Still an awesome film though.
The Hangover - £4.09
I don't think there is anyone who can sit and watch this film and not enjoy it. Hope there are many more to come!
Forgetting Sarah Marshall - £5.49
Could of been a good film, like all the cast except one and that's Russell Brand; Cant stand the bloke, how he become and actor or why any one would want him in their films is beyond me.
Tenacious D In The Pick Of Destiny - £8.29
I find Jack Black hit and miss, some films I love him in...this was not one of them. He just irritated me through out this film and will be avoiding having to watch it again.
Monsters (2010) - £5.19
Poor Film to be honest, not much going on just them travelling and they didn't really attempt to keep you interested through out, don't get to see much of the 'monsters' just sounds and the ending was stupid.
The Mechanic (2011) - £6.99
I love Jason Statham films and was not disappointed with The Mechanic. Yea his film might not always have the best story or have been written amazingly well but he always saves the day with awesome fighting scenes and action throughout the whole film.
Back to the Future Trilogy (Blu-ray) - £40.89
After many, many, many months of ridicule from my fellow co-workers for not having seen any of these films I finally succumbed and sat down and watched through them. Even with all the hype I was not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. Really enjoyed them, my favourite being the third although it appears this is everyone else least favourite so more ridicule it is!
Limp Bizkit - Greatest Hitz [Parental Advisory] (Music CD) - £7.59
This album is a bit hit and miss, some great old school classics thrown in with some real stinkers.
Avenged Sevenfold - Nightmare (Music CD) - £7.19
Was recommended this band by a mate from work, listened to a few of there tracks on youtube and had to buy this album. Glad I did cant stop listening to it, just awesome.
Slipknot - Slipknot (Music CD) - £7.19
Brought this when I was going through my heavy metal stage at school, still love it even today. Not to everyone's tastes though!
Various Artists - Ultimate Floorfillers (3 CD) (Music CD) - £4.19
Got this for my car, I love 90% of the tracks on it, some really great dance tunes that I will be listening to over and over again.
Linkin Park - Meteora (Music CD) - £7.19
Great album, the last one before they went downhill. Hybrid Theory and Meteora my favourite and most listened to albums I own.
Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory (Music CD) - £7.19
This was one of the first albums I brought, know the lyrics to every song on this. Loved the old Linkin Park not a fan of there more recent music unfortunately.
Evanescence - Open Door, The (Music CD) - £5.09
Was very disappointed with this album, loved fallen but this falls short. Only a couple of songs saved this from getting 1 star.
Evanescence - Fallen (Music CD) - £5.69
Fell in love with Evanescence from the day I heard 'Bring Me To Life' and then went on to fall in love with this album, there's not a single song I don't like on it which is rare to find these days, recommended.
Duke Nukem Forever (XBox 360) - £5.89
If I weren't a Duke Nukem fan I would be slating this game so much right now BUT even with its awfully dated graphics and bad game play but at the end of the day THE DUKE IS BACK and its time to come get some.
Duke Nukem Forever (PC) - £6.39
If I weren't a Duke Nukem fan I would be slating this game so much right now BUT even with its awfully dated graphics and bad game play but at the end of the day THE DUKE IS BACK and its time to come get some.
Gnomeo & Juliet (Blu-ray 3D) - £8.09
Wanted to see this in the cinema but didn't fancy a cinema full of kids! was well worth the wait, great family film or even if its just you and you fancy something different.
Push (Blu-Ray) - £8.49
Its an entertaining film with a good concept but could of been written better. It's good to see that Dakota Fannings acting career is still going as a lot of child actors don't seem to go anywhere, she's showing some good potential and will be looking forward to seeing more from her.
The Whole Nine Yards (2000) - £5.99
Matthew Perry produces the same goofiness which we grow to love from Chandler with Friends added with Bruce Willis and a lot of laughing moments makes this a great sit back and relax film.
Push (2009) - £6.69
Its an entertaining film with a good concept but could of been written better. It's good to see that Dakota Fannings acting career is still going as a lot of child actors don't seem to go anywhere, she's showing some good potential and will be looking forward to seeing more from her.
Cougar Town: Season 1 - £5.69
Its good to finally see Courteney Cox in her own TV Series after all these years since Friends sadly finished. Jules, her character in Cougar Town does have personality similarities to that of Monica which friends fans will love. Cougar town is seriously funny and gets you connected and familiar with the characters from the first episode.
Spartacus: Blood And Sand - Season 1 (Blu-ray) - £3.09
If you are interested in the Romans and that period of time and/or are looking for a nice action packed series with lots of blood and a good story then this is for you. Each episode keeps you glued to the screen and your adrenaline pumping!
Platoon (1986) - £7.79
This is my all time favourite war film. Its not just a gun and explosion fest; it shows what the people involved in the Vietnam had to go through and how it effected them. Great acting by Charlie Sheen who showed early on the potential he had, shame how it ended up.
Entourage - Complete HBO Season 7 - £8.69
Took me a few episodes to get into Entourage but I'm glad I stuck it out because this a very funny, entertaining TV series.
The Fighter (2010) - £5.69
Some fighting films get tedious and don't have much of a story to them but this differs from them. The story and the acting to go with it is amazing and did not get bored watching this at all. Christian Bale is really starting to show what a great actor he is. Will be expecting great things from him for years to come.
Paul - £5.49
Not going to go down as one of the all time classic films, you just need to take it for what it is; an entertaining film and entertain it does.
True Blood - Season 1-3 Box Set - £45.39
I love anything to do with vampires expect Twilight. True Blood is an amazing vampire series. Its a lot darker and sexier than most which attracts a more adult audience. People seem to have a problem with the accents but seriously after a couple of episodes you get used to them and you will be in for a treat.
L.A. Noire (XBox 360) - £18.49
A lot of people seem to be unhappy that this isnt another GTA, why would you want it to be? I'm glad Rockstar are trying original idea for games, its refreshing. La Noire may not be perfect but for a first attempt its a pretty amazing game.
Dragon Age II (XBox 360) - £11.79
Dragon age 2 has a lot to live up to after Dragon Age: Origins. I must admit I was a little disappointed with this game but I still rate it above most other games I have played. The last 2 hours or so of the game are epic to say the least.
Dragon Age - Origins (XBox 360) - £8.99
This game has to be the best game I have ever played. I love fantasy stuff, dragons, mages, warriors etc it may make me a geek but I don't care. Dragon age is not all about fighting either, the communications between the characters is amazing and the moral choices you encounter throught that effect the whole world of the game is the icing on the cake. RECOMMEND THIS 5 STARS, 10/10
Black Swan (DVD + Digital Copy) - £4.19
I saw this film only knowing 2 things, It was about ballet and the scene with Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis. I was disappointed with that scene but I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed the film on the whole. It was strange but exciting and moving and I highly recommend it.
Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 1 (2 Disc) - £4.49
Harry Potter has got to be one of the most popular book/film franchises. The films have gotten darker and more adult orientated as they have come along which is right as the same happens with the books. This has probably been the best film so far in the series and I can't wait for part 2.
The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest - £6.99
I'm not a big fan of Dubbed/Subtitled films but I made an exception with this and the other 2. Its a very dark but enticing thriller that does a good job of getting you emotionally attached to the characters. I hope to see more from the director and is a nice change for the same old films we get these days.
Pirates Of The Caribbean Trilogy - £21.59
Anything with Johnny Depp in is a must SEA! Pirates Of The Caribbean does not disappoint.Great Entertainment for all the family and yet another film where Johnny Depp shows the great depth of acting talent he has.
Family Guy - Season 10 - £10.09
You have to ask yourself in this day and age how do they get away with the jokes in these series; although highly offensive to some people, it provides the rest of us with great entertainment. Family Guy is one of those things you can watch over and over again and still laugh til your sides split!
True Blood - Season 3 - £10.89
The story thickens! True Blood has got darker and sexier with each season, In season 3 you finally get some answers to what Sookie actually is and what Bill's and Eric's intentions really are. Each character gets more depth and you finally start to see everyone's true colours. True Blood is defiantly something not to be missed for Vampire fans.
Gulliver's Travels - £4.89
Jack Black is one of those actors you know what you're going to get, this film is no different. If you want a film that makes you think and has depth to it then this is not for you but if you want something you can sit back, relax and be entertained on a Sunday afternoon, look no further than Gulliver's Travels.
